The chair to be installed in the theatre – christened Alicia – needed to fit in with the overall design of the auditorium and meet the highest standards in terms of comfort, acoustics and visibility. The design of the Alicia model would consist of two quite distinct parts. The support structure (geometrical in form) was to be approached as an extension of the riser and share the same dark colour. In contrast, the organic structure, the part in contact with the user’s body, was to have a delicate design that would lend distinction to the auditorium and be in harmony with its functional and aesthetic features. Juan Navarro Baldeweg drew his inspiration from the lines of an elegant pocket square to come up with the form of the chair.
