It was Ricardo Bofill who, through his Taller de Arquitectura and in collaboration with the Figueras Design Centre, came up with the concept behind the seat specially developed by Figueras for the National Theatre of Catalonia. One of the seat’s special features is an automatic-return, gravity-activated folding system controlled by an automatic brake that cancels the inertia of the tilting process. This means a noise-free movement, ideal for venues of this type, and a mechanism that requires no maintenance. The seat’s leather finish enhances the quality and warmth of the auditorium.
