System of retractable seats to optimize space.
The auditorium of the prestigious Bridgend College in Wales has been equipped with the Mutarail mobile seating system and one of the seats that best adapts to this type of system, the Figueras Minispace 5067 seat. The installation of this movable seating system in an auditorium with these features provides a multi-purpose space where other types of activities can be carried out.
The new auditorium is equipped with moveable seating that allows the College to maximise the variable usage of the facility. Figueras International Seating installed the Mutarail moveable seating system in the auditorium of the New Lecture Theatre at Bridgend College, a prestigious further education college in South Wales. Among other educational facilities, the new building houses a magnificent 400-seat multipurpose auditorium.
The space was designed to accommodate a diverse range of different events, including lectures, exams, theatrical productions, and student dances. To achieve this flexibility, the College and the architectural practice James and Nicholas opted for the Mutarail option of Figueras’s movable seating system. With the Mutarail system, complete rows of seats move along rails flush to the floor to their storage area, which in this case is at the back of the auditorium. Thanks to this auditorium seating solution, there is space created where the seats originally were which has a completely flat floor which can be used for a range of activities and is therefore more cost-effective. The system also substantially reduces the amount of time and labour costs required to switch between different configurations.
