Located in the centre of Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona), the Casal de Cultura Robert Brillas occupies the old Can Brillas farmhouse, surrounded by a spectacular garden.
The Esplugues town council, with the aim of modernising the ground floor hall, where activities as diverse as theatre performances and conferences are held, entrusted the Batlle i Roig architectural studio to lead the remodeling, which involved the installation of a perfect combination of a mobile seating system: a retractable tribune and a Mutawheel system, offering a total of 166 configurable seats. In addition, the Mutawheel system allows these self-stabilising rows of seats to be placed in any position in the hall, facilitating different types of events and dynamics.
The installation of a 105-seat
retractable grandstand and the
Mutawheel system, in modules of 4, 5 and 6 seats, gives the space maximum versatility, allowing the hall to be converted into a completely open-plan space or the capacity of the hall to be configured according to the needs of each event.
Once folded, the tribune has two wooden flaps that close in the form of an envelope, creating a sober and elegant space.
